Smartphones dominate Orange online sales in SA

Smartphones have proven to be sought-after in the South African market. That's according to Q2 2015 figures released by international telecommunications services provider Orange's local online retail outlet, which claims it experienced a successful second quarter of the year.

In a statement released to the media Orange has ranked its top ten selling smartphones as:

1. Sony Xperia Z3 Compact

2. Motorola Moto G 4G (2nd Gen)

3. Motorola Moto G (2nd Gen)

4. Huawei P8 Lite

5. Microsoft Lumia 640

6. LG G4

7. HTC One M9

8. Motorola Moto E 4G

9. Microsoft Lumia 535

10. Sony Xperia M4 Aqua

The company's list of top selling products during the same period included:

1. Sony Xperia Z3 Compact

2. Huawei E5372 4G LTE Mobile Wi-Fi

3. Motorola Moto G 4G (2nd Gen)

4. Motorola Moto G (2nd Gen)

5. Huawei P8 Lite

6. Google Nexus 7 sleeve

7. Microsoft Lumia 640

8. LG G4

9. HTC One M9

10. LG G Pad 8.0

While these list reflect sales from Orange online, the company believes its online and physical stores will complement each other.

The first Orange branded brick and mortar store began operating in June in Cape Town, to serve as a physical point of contact for customers.

Sébastien Crozier, chief executive officer, Orange Horizons, is quoted as saying, "We are excited about the store, as it not only provides a further platform for the brand's growth into Africa – which is a key market for us – but is also an additional step in our commitment to our customer base in the region."

Orange also says the store will serve as a point of services for its planned ISP activity, to be launched by the end of the year.
