Intel launches online learning tool in Kenya

Chipmaker Intel has officially launched its ‘Explore and Learn Marketplace’ education application for the Kenyan market.

The move to unveil the offering in Kenya comes weeks after Intel unveiled the offering for South Africa.

The Intel Explore and Learn Marketplace provides access to a repository of free and low-cost digital textbooks and interactive learning materials for students from Grade 0 to adults completing their MBAs.

The offering is also as a result of a partnership between Intel and Rancard mobile company, which provides a cloud based software platform for mobile content, discovery, delivery and monetisation.

“The aim of the Intel Explore and Learn solution is to provide a resource hub where learners can find relevant content to enrich their studies while at the same time provide publishers with access to a platform that will enable them to easily share their learning content,” said Intel’s Middle East and Africa business director, Cigdem Ertem during the launch.

Meanwhile, Kenya’s cabinet secretary for the education ministry, Professor Jacob Kaimenyi, lauded the move noting that it placed the country on the right foot towards attaining Vision 2030.

Vision 2030 is a national long-term development blueprint is aimed at transforming Kenya into a newly industrialising, middle-income country.

“Indeed towards the realisation of Vision 2030, the education system will be guided by placing emphasis on new developments and subsequent innovations in science and technology,” said Kaimenyi.
