FNB strikes eBucks partnership with Checkers

South Africa’s First National Bank (FNB) account holders who shop at Shoprite and Checkers retail outlets can now earn eBucks as part of the bank’s rewards programme.

These stores include Checkers, Checkers Hyper, Checkers LiquorShop, Shoprite, Shoprite LiquorShop and Usave.

eBucks Rewards is the rewards programme that was launched by FNB in 2000 for customers.

And according to FNB eBucks officials, customers could earn up to 15% back in eBucks every time they pay for their grocery shopping at Checkers and Shoprite outlets using their FNB or RMB Private Bank cards.

Furthermore, the customers can then also spend their eBucks at the stores.

Speaking about the partnership, eBucks chief executive officer, Jolandé Duvenage, said Shoprite and Checkers had a lot of what they were looking for in a partner.

“By adding a food retail partner of this calibre to our existing partner portfolio, we have further extended the appeal and tangible value of eBucks Rewards to FNB and RMB Private Bank customers,” she said.

Duvenage added, “Checkers and Shoprite fits the bill perfectly as the price leader offering a wide range of groceries and other quality goods that cater for both middle and upper income consumers.”

Checkers and Shoprite have more than 940 stores nationwide with some 70% of all South African adults shopping at their stores, according to a press statement.
