The deal grants GVA access to the use of Fast Congo-operated and maintained facilities

Fast Congo, a subsidiary of Pan-African operator Paratus Group, has inked a long-term agreement with GVA (Group Vivendi Africa), this week, to deliver fibre capacity between Muanda and Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

According to a joint statement, the deal grants GVA access to the use of Fast Congo-operated and maintained facilities.

"GVA requires high-speed and high-capacity bandwidth, which Fast Congo operates and maintains on its fibre route. This implies that GVA will be able to provide high-speed, dependable internet services that are both cost-effective and secure," according to the announcement.

Fast Congo was created when the Paratus Group was awarded the 15-year government tender to activate the 620-kilometre fibre optic network link between Muanda, on the west coast, and Kinshasa, the DRC capital.

Francois-Xavier Kabemba, MD, Fast Congo, noted that the agreement will enable connectivity solutions for more GVA customers, and forms part of the company strategy to expand digital infrastructure access across Africa.

Moktar Tabouri, CEO, GVA said: "Through our partnership with FAST Congo and Paratus Group, we can not only offer more customers more capacity at a lower cost, but we also have the option to extend these services and links across the globe."

Tabouri said that by GVA not having to invest in its own fibre infrastructure, it has been able to be competitive with pricing.
