Samsung, Pearson partner to promote digital education

Learning company and provider of educational materials, Pearson South Africa has partnered with Samsung Electronics to give new Samsung GALAXY device users a 50% discount on all Pearson eBooks.

A statement notes that the e-books include schools, higher education, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and professional titles.

"Pearson is committed to the development of the learner and the student, ensuring that we provide them with 21st century skills to thrive on post the formal schooling environment.

Technology will continue to play a huge role in this and we can take advantage of emerging technologies and strategies to help students/learners learn more effectively," said Riaan Jonck, chief executive officer of Pearson South Africa.

According to the statement tablets are recognised as being better suited for the modern learning environment, and Samsung has partnered with Pearson to further drive the impact of mobile devices in the education sector to deliver a holistic e-learning solution.

Paulo Ferreira, director of enterprise mobility at Samsung Electronics SA said, "At Samsung, we are committed to bringing the reality of a personalised and interactive classroom to schools. By partnering with Pearson, we are able to provide differentiated learning experiences to students around the country."
