Airtel Business Africa, a telecom services provider, says it is reimaging business for today's smart, digital world through its three main entities: Airtel Telesonic, Nxtra Africa, and Airtel Cloud.

The company said its mission is to enable "businesses to connect, communicate, and collaborate" in a digital world.

Through Telesonic, the company said it is "creating a data highway to meet Africa's growing bandwidth needs by offering terrestrial, fiber, and subsea solutions."

The statement continued: "We are building a highly resilient ecosystem to reduce the cost of data access across the continent."

Telesonic is an Airtel subsidiary that was established in February to handle its fiber assets.

At the launch, the telco stated that the fibre company would use ground fibre assets and submarine cable networks to meet Africa's growing need for wholesale data by offering complete terrestrial fibre and submarine cable solutions.

Yesterday, the company said: “Our extensive network spans 75,000 kilometers of fiber, and includes 15 submarine cable capacities, and over 90 MPLS and IP PoPs, connecting more than 2,700 partners.

“This is in addition to our comprehensive subsea cable network that serves the African continent and the Middle East region through strategic partnerships with two submarine cable systems.”

Also, Airtel said it has launched 5G in five countries, fibre in six countries and struck key partnerships.

“All this is enabling us to power and connect industries across our 14 African markets. We provide services to businesses of all sizes, from small and medium enterprises to big corporates, as well as government agencies,” said Airtel.

Furthermore, the business stated that following the launch of Nxtra Africa, Africa's largest connected data center, "we are offering over 1,000,000 square feet of space, 180 MW capacity, and 48 edge data centres. Starting in Lagos and spreading to Nairobi and beyond, Nxtra Africa will offer scalable, secure, and long-term data solutions."
