Vodafone, Google deepen partnership with multibillion GenAI deal
Vodafone, parent company of Vodacom, and Google have announced the strengthening of their existing partnership with a ten-year, multibillion dollar deal.
The deal centres on new generative AI (GenAI) powered devices with 5G network and TV experiences, which are supported by Google Gemini and Google Cloud, to Vodafone’s customers across Europe and Africa.
The agreement between will bring storage, security, and AI to Vodafone customers in 15 key countries and 45 markets globally.
According to a statement, the partnership will allow Vodafone to offer cybersecurity solution for its business-based clients, using Google Cloud’s Security Operations platform.
Commenting on the partnership, Margherita Della Valle, chief executive, Vodafone Group said: “Together, Vodafone and Google will put new AI-powered content and devices into the hands of millions more consumers. Using these services, our customers can discover new ways to learn, create and communicate, as well as consume TV, on a scale we haven’t seen before.”
Sundar Pichai, Google and Alphabet CEO, said the partnership is about enhancing products and services for Vodafone users across different sectors, including small businesses and governments, using GenAI and Google Cloud.
