Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) listed company Datatec has appointed Dolph Westerbos as chief executive officer for its Westcon Group.

Datatec is an international Information and Communications Technology (ICT) solutions and services group.

Meanwhile, the Westcon Group is Datatec’s distribution of advanced networking, security and unified communications solutions division.

Westerbos is expected to take over from Dean Douglas, effective from 1 January 2014.

Westerbos' experience spans 20 years in the industry and he has held a number of senior roles at Brambles, Dell and ModusLink.

According to a press statement, his experience has been principally gained in B2B services, covering the technology sector, supply chain and asset management as well as Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) operations.

He has also worked at CHEP, the main operating company of Brambles.

He was group president of Asia-Pacific and Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) operations as well as head of Global Strategy and Marketing. He was responsible for revenues of $2 billion, 7,000 employees and operations in over 40 countries.

Speaking about Westerbos' appointment chief executive Jens Montanana at Datatec said, “Dolph brings a considerable international track record, so we are delighted that he is joining us to run Westcon. His experience in global supply chain operations coupled with technology based services and his focus on operational efficiency and international commerce will be invaluable.

“On behalf of the Datatec Board, I’d like to thank Dean for his significant achievements in globalising Westcon over the last five years. We wish him well in his next role,” he added.
