Kirusa launching mobile sports content in Africa

Voice and social media solutions firm, Kirusa, has partnered with digital sports content group PERFORM to provide sports updates to mobile subscribers in major African countries.

According to a statement, the partnership is already active in Ghana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, Senegal, Uganda and Rwanda.

The news update service dubbed "Sports Connect" allows subscribers to listen to sports content on their mobile phones, or from the web.The mobile users receive a notification on their mobile phone, and can listen to the news at their convenience.

Kirusa will send daily voice and text soccer news updates relating to English, French and Spanish soccer clubs, the statement notes.

The updates include 60-90 seconds long news bulletin of each soccer club, a mixture of team news, professional pre and post-match analysis, with quotes from leading managers and players.

And subscribers would be able to choose to receive updates from sports clubs such as Real Madrid, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, FC Barcelona, etc.

Commenting on the partnership, Inderpal Singh Mumick chief executive officer at Kirusa said, "We have always been driven to offer engaging experiences to mobile subscribers. We are excited that PERFORM has partnered with us to produce exclusive sports content in a new medium, and to bring it to fans across Africa."
