Joosub meets with the president of Tanzania, Suluhu
Shameel Joosub, CEO of Vodacom Group, met with President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania during his market visit to the country last week.
Discussions centred on Vodacom's strategic investments in Tanzania, highlighting Vodacom's dedication to fostering development, innovation, and digital transformation in the region, according to the company.
"We thank Her Excellency for affording Mr. Joosub and his staff the opportunity to engage in such meaningful dialogues” said Vodacom, asserting that such collaborative conversations are essential for defining a brighter, more connected future for all.
Philip Besiimire, CEO and managing director of Vodacom Tanzania, added on his LinkedIn page: "Shameel also briefed the President on the important strategic projects that Vodacom Tanzania Plc will be implementing in the near future.
"He thanked the President for the recent changes to policy, particularly the elimination of specific levies on mobile financial services and the reduction of right-of-way fees for fibre deployment.
"The President, in turn, acknowledged Vodacom Tanzania Plc's significant contribution to Tanzania's digital transformation journey and its crucial societal influence, particularly through m-mama."
Joosub also met with the director general of the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority, Dr. Jabiri Bakari, with whom he discussed several sector-related issues.
