Nigerian Nollywood movie internet streaming service iROKOtv has announced the launch of its online retail store on South African e-commerce website ‘Bid or Buy’.

The launch means that fans of Nigerian movies can purchase DVDs of their favourite movies from the online South African retailer.

According to a company statement, the move marks iROKOtv’s expansion into offline Nollywood distribution.

At present, there are 10 movies available from Bid or Buy with more expected to be added later in 2013.

Adi Nduka-Agwu, head of business for iROKOtv says, “Having conquered the online space, connecting with millions of Nigerian movie fans around the world online, iROKOtv has now expanded its portfolio to include the sale of DVDs, to cater for those who still prefer to watch, or can only watch, Nigerian movies offline. We’re offering the same movies and the same great quality from iROKOtv, just a different platform.”

Nduka-Agwu adds, “Since our official launch in May, when we brought Mama G to JoBurg to meet fans and shop owners, we have had a lot of interest from wholesalers looking to stock our DVDs. As well as producing an online store to sell DVDs, iROKOtv also sells units across various locations in Johannesburg.

iROKOtv currently has around one million unique visitors every single month, with people watching from 178 countries around the world.
