Roan Systems wins PRASA tender

Specialist South African-based IT distributor offering products and services for a variety of IT applications, Roan Systems, has won a tender to maintain 770 Printronix T4M printers nationwide with the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA).

Newly established, PRASA merges the operations, personnel and assets of the South African Rail Commuter Corporation, Metrorail, Intersite Property Management Services, Shosholoza Meyl and the long distance bus company, Autopax (Translux and City-to-City).

"An organisation of this size and nature has heavy-duty printing needs," says Roan Systems' Frikkie Koegelenberg. "To win the tender, we adopted a customer-centric approach instead of a sales-driven one. In order to do this we had to have a thorough understanding of PRASA's needs and printing requirements, so we could offer them a package customised to meet those needs."

The printers in question, the Printronix T4M boast uncompromised performance and features, and can be seamlessly installed into other printer brand environments using the widest breadth of embedded printer protocol interpreters. "The T4M maximises productivity and offers flexibility to grow with changing requirements, and Roan Systems will ensure they operate smoothly and efficiently," he adds.

Koegelenberg adds that it is Roan Systems' approach to offering the best servicing for document output solutions that sets it apart from the competition. "Businesses today are wanting solutions tailor-made for them. In addition, the tough economic climate means that companies want to focus on their core business, without the hassle of maintaining print services and suchlike."

Bearing this in mind, Roan offers a full servicing and maintenance function. "We thoroughly evaluate our customer's current offerings, and then design an offering for them that minimises costs, and promises solid service level agreements. Roan Systems will provide the maintenance and servicing needed, or will adapt the client's current hardware to better meet their requirements," says Koegelenberg.

He adds that Roan Systems has had tremendous success with handling customers' printing environments, proving the necessary skills and expertise to service the machines, helping them to meet their printing needs.
