SAP Africa heads up AfICTA Summit

Organisers of the 3rd Africa ICT Alliance (AfICTA) Summit have confirmed SAP Africa as the Platinum sponsor of the event, scheduled from 1 to 3 September 2015 in Braamfontein, Johannesburg.

The Summit will host a number of speakers and facilitate discussion on several topics including Access and Internet Governance, Sustainable Development and Industry/Enterprise Development.

Delegates will also be able to attend a workshop on Internet Governance and Cybersecurity and to join colleagues in business matchmaking.

In the run up to the event, the organising committee is gearing up for a series of discussions between stakeholders concerned about how best to use ICTs to develop Africa's potential as effectively and quickly as possible.

Adrian Schofield, vice chairman of the Africa ICT Alliance and chairman of the summit organising committee, says the participation of business leaders and policymakers across the continent ensures that the opinions shared and solutions proposed are carried back to the member countries to add value to the local efforts towards the continental goals.

"I am delighted at the support of the global companies like SAP, international organisations such as ICANN and national bodies including NITDA and ZACR for the Summit, as they confirm the AfICTA mission to serve Africa's development is on the right track."

Dr Jimson Olufuye, Chairman of AfICTA and CEO of ICT solutions provider Kontemporary, will be heading a delegation of Nigerian businessmen and policy-makers at the Summit and says he is looking forward to building on the successes of the previous two Summits, where the deliberations were endorsed by the Ministers of ICTs from several of the participating countries.

The Summit will take place in Braamfontein, a site which stakeholders in Africa's ICT development say is undergoing 'revitalisation' - underpinned by the development of the Tshimologong Precinct, a software skills and technology innovation hub.

Registrations are still open at the Summit website.
