Kenya's MTN Business switches to global communication network
MTN Business Kenya launched its new network upgrade the Global Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS), Virtual Private Network (VPN) that will see their clients have improved communication globally.
According to Tom Omariba, managing director of MTN Business Kenya the move would enable MTN Business customers to get faster service with a globally recognised technology.
“Kenya joins 17 other African operations that have joined this network. The migration means that MTN’s enterprise customers with global operations will now be able to communicate with their branches and staff worldwide in a seamless manner,” said .
He added that the switch to this new system is due to demand from multinational clients who are looking for a seamless communication solution.
“This is one of the best products in Africa and it puts us as the same level as the rest of the world, in that Africans can be able to communicate with themselves as we have covered a big part of Africa,” Omariba said.
The company has invested $30 million to improve the network for the last 12 months. For the 17 countries, the project cost the company over $3 billion.
The company also revealed that its Kenya metro fibre is still on course with an investment of $9.4 million so far.
