Telkom Business Connexion plans to capitalise on Africa footprint

Along with the announcement of Isaac Mophatlane as CEO of the newly integrated Telkom Business Connexion, a company representative has affirmed that once integration is concluded within the next twelve months, the objective is to emerge as the foremost provider of ICT solutions on the continent.

Zinhle Modiselle, General Manager Marketing and Communications at BCX says BCX plans to make the most of its geographical reach in Africa.

"We have physical office locations and personnel in Tanzania, Mozambique, Nigeria, Zambia, Namibia, Kenya and Botswana with the rest of the countries supported remotely or through partnerships."

Modiselle adds that Telkom BCX will provide end-to-end digital offerings from connectivity through Telkom, to IT infrastructure and services through BCX.

She also notes that BCX will leverage the reach of Telkom's wholesale networks division Openserve across the continent once it is up and running.

Leverage success

Openserve has two diverse submarine cables off the west coast of Africa connecting to Europe and two diverse submarine cables off the east coast, one connecting to Europe and the other to Asia, terrestrial fibre that connects SADC countries, as well as satellite services including three major earth stations covering Africa, according to Modiselle.

Mophatlane has been Group CEO of BCX since August 2014. Together with his late brother, Benjamin, he co-founded BCX (then known as Business Connection), a computer reseller focused on government and parastatals.

"I'm thrilled to be taking on this new position," said Mophatlane. "When my late brother and I started our own IT company nearly 20 years ago, we could only dream that it would reach the level of success we currently enjoy. I'm honoured to be at the helm of the newly formed Telkom Business Connexion, and I look forward to working with my partners to grow the success of this business."

"In the coming weeks and months, Isaac will be driving the full integration of Telkom Business Connexion and we are proud to have such an astute business leader fulfilling this role," said Sipho Maseko, group CEO of Telkom. "Telkom Business Connexion is uniquely equipped to strengthen Telkom's core offering, allowing us to offer solutions beyond connectivity and to provide true, end-to-end services to our customers."
