BoFiNet chooses DZS to power Botswana fibre network

Botswana Fibre Networks (BoFiNet), a wholesale connectivity provider, has partnered with DZS, a US-based provider of fibre access, optical telecom networking, and cloud computing technologies, to help expand its services.

DZS announced yesterday that BoFiNet has implemented key solutions from its Access and Subscriber Edge portfolios to provide digital connectivity.

BoFiNet is also using DZS Velocity Fibre-To-The-Business (FTTB) systems and DZS Helix premises solutions.

BoFiNet provides multi-gigabit digital services to licenced communications service providers, governmental bodies, and other backbone institutions.

As part of the project, BoFiNet is delivering DZS solutions that use 10-Gigabit symmetrical passive optical networking (XGS-PON) technology to connect enterprises and institutions in Mahalapye, Kanye, Tlokweng, and Molepolole.

DZS stated that this network enables BoFiNet to expand its existing communications infrastructure, enabling for the integration of next-generation data, voice, and video services.

“We needed proven, reliable, cost-effective fibre technology that would allow us to easily scale and rapidly deploy the next-generation communications services our customers and their end-users are demanding,” said Keabetswe Segole, CEO, BoFiNet.
