SAP SE and the Algoa Bay Yacht Club welcome the SAP 5O5 World Championship back to Africa for its 60th edition. This year's SAP 5O5 World Championships will see over 50 competitors travel from all over the world to Port Elizabeth.

With SAP as title sponsor, sailors and coaches can once again leverage SAP Sailing Analytics to improve their performance on the water. SAP Sailing Analytics provide insights and transparency to the world of sailing by utilising cloud and in-memory technology, processing GPS and wind measurement data in real time and then visualising contents in various front-ends that are accessible from virtually anywhere. Additionally, SAP's Business Analytics tools including in-memory flagship product, SAP HANA ,are used to create meaningful historical insights and analyses enabling them to deep-dive into their own performances, uncover patterns and ultimately be much better prepared.

"Through our sponsorship of this prestigious regatta, SAP is not only playing a major role at the forefront of international sailing and assisting the development of sailing around the world, but demonstrating the power of its world class technology in enabling sportsmen and women to make smarter decisions based on the technology's unique analytical capabilities" commented Pfungwa Serima, CEO of SAP Africa.

With SAP, media and commentators can now also deliver an enhanced level of storytelling to their audiences along with easier-to-understand context to a broader sailing audience by employing 2D and 3D race analytics together with current and historical analyses delivered by SAP.

ABYC Commodore, Alan Straton said: "The hosting of the SAP 505 World Championships in the warm waters of Algoa Bay contributes to Port Elizabeth staking its claim as the Watersport Capital of South Africa. We look forward to welcoming sailors to our friendly club and city knowing that Port Elizabeth will deliver some of its famous shifting winds, ensuring the World Championships will be fun, hard and fair in all respects."

From March 28, sailing fans can follow every second of each SAP 5O5 World Championship race in real –time in front of the Sail Cube in Port Elizabeth or wherever they are live on the official website www.sap5O5worlds.com.
