Nigeria: LG connects smart-TVs to high-speed MTN internet
MTN Business in Nigeria has reached an agreement with LG Electronics to bundle MTN broadband internet services with LG smart televisions sold locally.
The deal is planned to culminate in customers buying the television sets with an offering called MTN HyNet, a broadband internet service offered by MTN Business
Speaking on the partnership, Babatunde Osho, chief enterprise solutions officer of MTN Nigeria, said that with smart-TVs increasing in popularity, the need for a high-speed internet service, such as MTN HyNet, is set to help customers take advantage of this technology.
Osho said MTN Business would like to see more people enjoy the whole range of benefits, such as online movies and live streaming among others associated with smart-TVs and other smart devices.
Steve Ryu, general manager, Home Entertainment, LG Electronics West Africa operations, welcomed the partnership.
“This unique partnership is ultimately about meeting the needs of our customers in a bid to provide cutting edge technological products and services to them in comfort and style,” he said.
Ryu stated that the LG Smart TV and MTN HyNet Internet service comes with free 8GB data for three months.
