Cameroon pushes for adoption of road safety tech
MTN Cameroon, CAMTRACK, and the Ministry of Transport convened a work session yesterday to discuss the impact of the Ym@ne Driver software on road safety, with the goal of widespread adoption by transport businesses by April 2025.
CEO Mitwa Kaemba Ng'ambi welcomed Ministry of Transport officials led by director of road transport, Dr Divine Mbamome, and a group from CAMTRACK as well as a team from Be. Safe, led by CEO Hilaire Tinen, to MTN Cameroon's offices in Douala for the session.
The Ym@ne Driver solution, which was deployed nearly three years ago by Be. Safe, an MTN-CAMTRACK consortium project business, and the Ministry of Transport, enables predictive management, centralised monitoring, and the security of people and commodities on urban and interurban highways.
According to MTN, since 2022, the Ym@ne Driver video monitoring system has resulted in zero fatal incidents among 500 interurban buses equipped with this revolutionary technology.
According to MTN Cameroon, this solution reflects the company's dedication to contributing to road safety in the country and saving Cameroonians' lives through digital solutions.
