Tagattitude, Prepay Nation strike Africa remittances partnership

Remittances could become easier in countries such as Uganda and Ivory Coast, thanks to a partnership struck between mobile money and security technologies company Tagattitude and cross-border, micro–value transfers provider, Prepay Nation.

Tagattitude already has products in Africa such as TagPay, which is is used by companies such as MobiPay in Namibia, MCash in Uganda and Celpaid in the Ivory Coast to offer valuable e-money services and promote financial inclusion in those countries.

Meanwhile, Prepay Nation is a provider of value-added mobile services that enable micropayments from one person to another across international borders.

According to a company statement, the partnership seeks to connect the customers in Prepay Nation’s distribution network with the mobile money services running on TagPay.

Through its mobile money payment service TagPay,Tagattitude customers are set to be able to transfer remittances to family members back home on a real-time basis using Prepay Nation’s distribution network to facilitate transfers, reveals the statement.

“With the increasing demand among members of various global diasporas for productised remittance opportunities to support their dependents back home, we are always looking for innovative methods to satisfy that need ,” explains Prepay Nation chief executive officer, Anurag Jain.

“Integrating with TagPay was a natural choice, as our existing customers who currently transfer airtime will now have the option to transfer value into a mobile wallet of a family member abroad. Through a single integration we have created new business opportunities for our partners and the mobile money operators using the TagPay platform,” Jain added.
