Angola's largest city Luanda is hosting the second forum on internet governance in Southern Africa.

Dubbed the ‘Southern Africa Internet Governance Forum’ or SAIGF, the event is taking place from August 5-7.

SAIGF was inaugurated in September 2011 with the overall objective of developing a coordinated and coherent approach to dealing with internet governance issues in the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

Issues that the SAIGF plans to discuss at its 2013 event include the creation of an internet policy at a regional level.

The Angolan news agency is reporting that the event is to be held by Angola’s ministry of telecommunications and information technologies.

On 5 August, delegates are expected visit a submarine cable landing point at a village, while the event is planned to be officially opened on 6 August.

Telecommunication experts from Angola, Mozambique, Tanzania, DR Congo, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Namibia, Mauritius, Zambia, Lesotho are expected to attend, says the news agency.
