Rapper Jay-Z in exclusive music deal with Samsung
US hip-hop rapper Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter has partnered with South Korea’s Samsung Electronics to have his upcoming studio album available for download on smart devices.
In a three minute video announcement, the rapper said the album titled "Magna Carter Holy Grail" is planned to be available for exclusive download on July 4, three days before its on sale release.
One million Samsung Galaxy III & IV smartphones and Galaxy Note II users are set to then have access to the album by downloading a special application.
The mobile app dubbed “Magna Carta” is expected to be available on June 24.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Samsung purchased one million copies of Jay-Z’s album for $5 apiece to give to its users for free.
The deal is reported to be worth $20 million.
This is Jay-Z's first solo album since 2009's "The Blueprint 3".
