Cradlepoint, focused on cloud-delivered LTE and 5G Ready wireless edge solutions, has signed a distribution agreement with South African ICT distributor, Rectron.

According to the agreement Rectron will provide Cradlepoint's technology and services to resellers, system integrators, managed services providers, e-tailers and retailers across Southern Africa.

A statement released by the companies explains that Cradlepoint plans to further develop its channel presence in the region.

"... and the agreement with Rectron will enable both companies to bring the benefits of LTE and 5G-ready wireless technologies to SMEs, enterprises and the public sector," the statement continues.

In June 2019 ITWeb reported that vendors have touted the next-generation WiFi standard, WiFi 6, together with 5G, will be a powerful combination.

On 10 July 2019, the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) released a new white paper that provides deployment guidelines for a number of possible scenarios utilising WiFi 6 technology.

According to the WBA, the paper also provides guidelines for RF planning and design, with consideration given to factors like band steering, MU-MIMO and adjusting for high-density deployments that demand increased capacity.
