Rwanda's sole 4G/LTE infrastructure company, Olleh Rwanda network (ORn) has opened a 4G facility in the country's capital city Kigali to serve internet providers.

In a statement Rwanda's minister of youth and ICT, Jean Philbert Nsengimana said the centre was designed for people to receive explanations regarding 4G in the East African country, and as a space for young innovators to learn and innovate.

According to the chief executive officer of the Rwanda Development Board, Francis Gatare the facility would not only to facilitate connectivity, but also to create a space for entrepreneurs.

oRn chief executive officer, Patrick Yoon said, "We wanted to create a state-of-the-art facility where anyone can explore 4G/LTE benefits beyond what people are used to. More users will be able to experience 4G/LTE and connect with business partners, friends or family in a friendly, fun, relaxing environment."

Rwanda launched its 4G network in 2014 in partnership with South Korea's telecoms provider, KT Corporation.

In terms of the partnership the network is expected to cover 95% of the population by 2017.

Currently 4G is accessible in five cities across Rwanda namely Kigali, Rubavu, Rusizi, Huye and Musanze, with plans to extend accessibility in other cities soon.
