Botswana pilots 4G network
Botswana mobile network operator Mascom Wireless has launched a 4G pilot project in that country.
The operator’s move to unveil its LTE piloting project comes after Angola, Namibia and Tanzania have been the first on the continent to commercially launch the next-generation network.
“Mascom remains convinced that ICT and internet use presents great possibilities to Botswana,” said the company’s chief executive, Jose Veira Couceirio.
“We believe that ICT provides a golden opportunity for Botswana to generate income, combat hunger, ill health and most important enhance literacy, ” he said.
Mascom Wireless, which is one of three mobile operators in that country, also said it plans to extend its 2.5G and 3.5G coverage.
