HTC One M9 gets South African release date

Mobile devices and technology company HTC announced that its latest smartphone within the HTC One series range, the HTC One M9, will be available in South Africa on 01 June 2015.

In a statement HTC noted that the new device could be purchased from Vodacom and MTN stores in the country.

Speaking at the launch of the smartphone in Johannesburg, South Africa on Wednesday, HTC head of marketing for Middle East and Africa, Neeraj Seth said pre-orders for the device would start in May.

According to Seth South Africa has been a huge part of HTC's success story.

"Personal style is something we always strive for. We'd like to see what exactly suits your personality, what is it that you (are) wanting to carry and that's exactly what gets to the core of the HTC design," said Seth.

"Design brilliance is critical for us," he added. "We build products to be loved, and that's what makes HTC a loved brand."

The HTC One M9 boasts features such as a 20 megapixel main camera, which has the ability to shoot movies in 4K resolution.

Other features include a front facing camera, HTC BoomSound combined with 5.1 channel Dolby Surround sound simulation and a preloaded Peel Smart Remote app.

Initially the phone will be made available in two colours namely dual tone gold and silver and single-tone gunmetal grey for purchase in June.

More colours would be added later in the year, including the colour pink as a once-off 'special', said Seth.
