Orange Business Service's New Infographic Demonstrates African Leadership

Orange Business Services provides its range of services in more than 220 countries and territories via the world's largest seamless IP voice and data network. Orange builds VPN for multinationals, and helps companies collaborate more effectively, operate more efficiently and engage better with their customers – connecting their people, sites and machines securely and reliably . Large and significant investments by the Orange Group drive development of infrastructures as evidenced by its 65-year track record of technological advancement, not least in Africa.

Orange is a trusted brand, an experienced player, the only provider with the right assets and physical presence to deliver connectivity and innovative IT services across the African continent The top priority is linking Africa up to the world's information superhighways.

Broadband requires significant transmission capacities that have not been sufficiently developed in Africa to date. Our powerful networks are also built on 450,000 kms of fibre-optic submarine cables that deliver high-speed connectivity around the world. Globally, Orange cables are extensive enough to circle the earth ten times over. Orange has contributed to laying several major international cable systems, including the ACE submarine cable, which brought high-speed Internet access to several countries in Western Africa. Today 16 submarine cables bring connectivity to the furthest reaches of the continent.
Our 2,000 professionals dedicated to the B2B market in the Middle East and Africa bridge the gap between technology and what's right for your business to help you overcome challenges and in Africa as elsewhere, the internet is a key factor for growth and competitiveness in the economy.

Between now and 2020, the digital universe will double in size every two years, ballooning to 40,000 exabytes of data. This is 50 times more than in 2010, and the trend is accelerating with the deployment of very-high-speed networks. Our networks provide us with an opportunity to stand out in an increasingly competitive market. The annual investment of the Orange Group in increasing the speed and reach of its networks tops US$1 billion. This investment has not gone unnoticed and Vertical Systems Group has nominated Orange Business Services as number 1 for global Ethernet. Networks require substantial capital investment to continually optimize their performance. This infrastructure constitutes foundations on which we build services for our customers. Networks represented 58% of our total investments in 2013.

Orange invests in order to extend network coverage, deliver more bandwidth and further boost quality and today Orange Business Services delivers support in all 54 African countries via its VPN network. We rely on our networks to develop a consistent portfolio of high-value-added digital products and services but Orange Business Services' investment into Africa goes beyond infrastructure as Orange is rolling out a dedicated innovation strategy, in Africa and the Middle East. The Technocenters in Abidjan (Côte d'Ivoire) and Amman (Jordan), and the Orange Labs facilities in Cairo (Egypt) and Tunis (Tunisia) design a range of solutions that closely meet the requirements of local demand.

"Enterprises in Africa are experiencing rapid growth in Internet traffic, with applications increasingly delivered from the Cloud and employees browsing public Internet sites as an intrinsic part of business life," says Mark McCallum, Director & Head of Global Services - Africa CTO Africa, Orange Business Services. "To enable this, Orange Business Services launched Business VPN Hybrid in 54 countries in Africa. This service optimises Internet traffic and provides hybrid networks as a global, standardised, managed service that enables our customers to connect their applications wherever they are hosted (in-house, private Cloud, public Cloud) to their users across any device, wherever they may be."
