Cameroon extends Yango’s e-hailing licence
Yango, a Cameroonian ride-hailing app, received a five-year extension to its operating licence in the West African country.
Clovis Pilla, Yango Cameroon's country manager, said the company and its local partners collaborated to secure the necessary license from the transport ministry.
After launching in Cameroon's political capital Yaounde and economic hub Douala in 2021, the mobility platform now plans to expand to the country's third largest city in the first quarter of the year.
“We plan to extend our services to Bafoussam, offering greater access to modern and secured mobility solutions,” Pilla declared.
In addition, Pilla stated that Yango will continue to strengthen its platform and partners' driving capacity.
“Over the next five years, we plan to extend our services to other cities, introduce new offerings and strengthen our integration into the digital financial solutions ecosystem. By continually investing in our platform and in the development of local talent, we hope to actively contribute to Cameroon's digital transformation and economic growth,” he said.
Since its inception in Cameroon, Yango has collaborated with around 150 Cameroonian transport firms, creating over 6,000 direct and indirect jobs. The company has around 150,000 active users per month.
