AUC: 'Hackers impersonate Dr. Zuma on social media'

Unnamed “hackers” have been accused of “masquerading” as the African Union Commission (AUC) chairperson Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma on social media.

This is according to a statement by the African Union released today.

Dr. Zuma used to head up South Africa’s ministry of home affairs before taking the top job at the AUC late last year.

Facebook accounts such as https://www.facebook.com/mistressnkosazan use Dr. Zuma’s name as its profile identification.

But the AUC says that Dr. Zuma does not own any social media accounts. Furthermore, the African body has asked those managing accounts under her name to stop doing so.

“The AU Commission would like to make it absolutely clear that the AU Commission Chairperson, is currently not holding any accounts with social media platforms,” says the statement.

“The AU Commission would like all and sundry to desist from the unauthorised utilisation of Her Excellency’s name,” the statement adds.

Meanwhile the African Union Commission says it holds official accounts with Facebook, Twitter and Youtube.
