Tech not-for-profit organisation, Empire Partner Foundation, is calling for nominations for the inaugural 2023 South African Tech for Innovation and Social Impact Awards.

The foundation said the awards celebrate South African innovators and their tech contributions.

The awards ceremony and tech week are planned for Johannesburg from 6 to 11 November.

According to Empire Foundation, the awards, hosted in partnership with MICT Seta, aim to promote a vibrant and competitive technology ecosystem in the country while supporting local talent and homegrown technology solutions.

Mikhail Mariemuthu, senior manager at the Empire Foundation, commented, saying the awards will celebrate talented entrepreneurs.

The foundation wants nominations for entrepreneurs building solutions to solve societal challenges using new technologies.

Nominations are now open and will close 30 September.

Mariemuthu said: “This will stimulate discussions, generate new ideas and inspire innovations and collaborations that can drive progress and economic growth in industries.”

Established in 2016, the Empire Partner Foundation is an NPO, seeking to empower youth to build South Africa and Africa through technology by solving key socio-economic challenges affecting the public.
