Ecobank selects finalists for Fintech Challenge
Ecobank, a pan-African banking group, has chosen finalists for its annual Fintech Challenge, with a $50,000 grand prize.
The annual competition invited early-stage and mature fintech companies to partner with Ecobank for the opportunity to develop their solutions throughout the bank's 35 African countries.
The finalists were chosen from a group of 40 high-performing fintechs who advanced to the competition's semi-final round.
The bank reported that this year's challenge received over 1,550 submissions from 70 African countries and those from outside the continent.
The finalists' solutions will be presented at the Ecobank Fintech Challenge Grand Finale, which will take place on September 27, 2024, at the Ecobank Pan African Centre in Lomé, Togo.
The event will be streamed live on Ecobank Group's social media channels, allowing a global audience to participate, according to the bank.
Speaking at the semi-final, Jeremy Awori, CEO of Ecobank Group, remarked: "The finalists in this year's Ecobank Fintech Challenge have showcased exceptional talent and innovation; and we look forward to welcoming them to the finale.”
The finalists of the 2024 Ecobank Fintech challenge are BuuPass (Kenya), Daba finance (Ivory Coast), EasyEquities (South Africa), Exuus(Rwanda), Melanin Kapital Neobank (Kenya), MiaPay (Togo), PaySika(Cameroon), PROBOUTIK(Senegal), Sawport Video Banking as a Virtual Branch (Nigeria), Sproutly (Nigeria), Vaultpay (Democratic Republic of the Congo), and YMO Africa(Guinea)
Since inception, 60 fintech startups have been inducted into the Ecobank Fintech Fellowship.
