Pan-African incubator Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology Africa (MEST), in partnership with Absa Bank, has opened applications for the MEST Africa challenge start-up pitch competition.

Early-stage technology start-ups operational in Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Kenya, and South Africa are invited to participate and showcase their business and entrepreneurial prowess. Applications will close on 9 October 2023.

To be eligible for the competition, applicants must have at least six months’ recurring revenue, monthly recurring revenue more than $5 000, and the total funding raised should be a maximum of $1 million.

To qualify, the business should be three years old, or less; have at least two founding members, and demonstrated traction in Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Kenya, or South Africa.

The competition winner will receive $50,000. Additionally, the winner and other outstanding participants will gain access to MEST Africa's global community and networks, unlocking partnerships, mentorships, and potential investment opportunities.

To date, MEST has trained over 2,000 entrepreneurs from across the continent and funded over 90 start-ups.
