Live parliament debates go mobile in Ghana
Ghanaians in any part of the world will soon be able to access live sound sessions of their country’s parliamentary debates on their mobile phones.
MTN, in conjunction with the Forum Network, have introduced the offering by using audio-conference technology.
The parliamentary debates are accessible via any mobile telecom network by calling 0242427777 at normal call rates and long distance charges.
MTN subscribers, however, can dial the MTN short code 30033 to listen in on the parliamentary discussions.
“The electorates now have the opportunity to evaluate the performance and effectiveness of their representatives in parliament through contributions to debates on the floor of the house,” MTN and the Forum Network jointly said.
“This initiative makes Ghana’s Parliament the first parliament in the world to subscribe to such a technological facility that makes all live debates and proceedings in the house globally accessible,” the two organisations went on to say.
