Telecoms veteran takes top Vodafone Enterprise Africa role

An enterprise subsidiary of Vodafone Group has appointed South African Deon Liebenberg as vice president for its African operations effective from 1 April 2014.

This is according to a statement from Vodafone Global Enterprise (VGE), which provides telecommunications and information technology services to large corporations and has more than 1,500 customers across Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe and the Americas.

Liebenberg was previously the managing executive for VGE at Vodacom in South Africa and chief executive officer for the Vodacom Business Africa Group of companies.

“Deon brings over 20 years' experience in the ICT and Telecom Industry, earned working at some of South Africa's leading operators and multinational telecom service providers. I am certain that Deon will use his expertise and vast experience to build the VGE Africa portfolio and further accelerate our growth strategy across Africa”, said the president of Asia and Africa for VGE, Stevan Hoyle.

Liebenberg holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of the Free State as well as a Bachelor of Business Management and Administration and a Masters in Business and Administration from the University Of Stellenbosch.
