Workonline Communications further expands European presence

One of Africa's top three transit networks, Workonline Communications has announced installation of a Point of Presence (PoP) in Interxion's data centre campus in Marseille.

One of Africa's top three transit networks, Workonline Communications, today announced it has installed a Point of Presence (PoP) in Interxion's data centre campus in Marseille. This additional PoP broadens Workonline Communications' footprint in Interxion data centres, with the provider now present in Marseille, Amsterdam and Frankfurt.

"This PoP will allow Workonline Communications to serve not only new customers but also existing customers in looking to expand and add services in fast-growing markets like Africa," explains Workonline Communications' Director of Business Development, Edward Lawrence. "Adding the Marseille PoP to our network will allow us to offer even lower latency and improved redundancy to our clients in Africa and Europe."

Interxion's Marseille campus is the largest network-neutral campus in the region. It attracts the widest range of carriers, CDNs, service providers and enterprises looking to ensure the performance of their IT systems while lowering costs. It provides Workonline with interconnectivity to key markets in the EMEA region through 13 major international undersea cables and the location is often seen as the gateway between North Africa and Europe.

"The Marseille data centre has more than 130 connectivity carriers, apart from key exchanges like France-IX, which will further enhance opportunities for our clients," explains Lawrence. "Importantly, the build supports carrier and content exchange from Europe to Africa, providing a higher quality Internet ecosystem for Africa. This is in line with our commitment to providing the best for Africa in all aspects of our business."

"Workonline's network expansion to Interxion Marseille provides our customers with a highly efficient solution for solving connectivity between Europe and Africa," said Mike Hollands, Director Market Development and Strategy, Interxion. "In addition, Workonline's innovative and flexible commercial offers add significant value to the growing community of interest in our Marseille facility."
