Shoden named Fujitsu's Partner of the Year for Africa

For more than a decade, Shoden Data Systems has partnered with Fujitsu to sell high-end SPARC-based technologies to its enterprise customers. During this time, Fujitsu has had an equally long relationship with Oracle, which has seen these two organisations' SPARC development relationship go from strength to strength, following Oracle's acquisition of Sun Microsystems.

Earlier this year, as an extension of their SPARC development relationship, Fujitsu and Oracle inked an expansive new product distribution agreement and a commitment to further joint engineering, marketing and sales promotion efforts. This means that Shoden is now an Oracle Partner as well as a Fujitsu one.

Rui De Oliveira at Shoden says this means that with such close ties to both organisations, it came as no surprise to Shoden when the company recently received the award for best solution innovator for the Fujitsu/Oracle Unix platform.

“The award ceremony takes place every year at the Fujitsu Boot Camp, where partners in a variety of different fields – including servers, storage, PCs and overall solutions building – are recognised for their achievements,” he says.

“While the first award was nice to receive, what made it even better was that Shoden also won the Select Expert (SI - Systems Integrator) Partner of the Year award. This basically names us as the best Fujitsu partner in South Africa and Africa, so it is a wonderful achievement, and something we are thus very proud of.”

He states that Shoden is honoured to be singled out in this manner, as this award recognises the company's commitment to the Fujitsu brand. “Moreover, it will demonstrate to our customers that they can have unwavering trust in us.”

According to Fujitsu's Jane Tully, corporate account manager for Shoden, the honour is just reward for Shoden, which has been a partner of Fujitsu for more than a decade.

“I have been the account manager for Shoden from the outset, so I have been in a unique position to watch the growth and development of their organisation from the very beginning. The company has not only proved to be exceptionally competent in its operations, but it also continually improves and develops the skills and expertise it has to offer. I have no doubt that Shoden can be justifiably proud of being named as our partner of the year.”

Adrian Wood, Business Development Manager at Shoden Data Systems, adds that these new awards are yet another statement of the organisation's capabilities and indicate its continuing commitment to partners like Fujitsu.

“Shoden values its long-term relationship with Fujitsu, therefore they can rest assured that we will continue to drive their solutions to market, while servicing our joint customers to the best of our ability. The future looks particularly bright, as we are firmly committed to continuing to develop and sell integrated solutions, both with Fujitsu and our other partners, into the burgeoning African market,” concludes Wood.
