MTN Uganda seeks to close digital divide with WakaNet deals
MTN Uganda has launched its latest Internet service, WakaNet Home Internet.
As part of its efforts to advance connectivity in the East African country, the telecom operator said it will focus on providing high-speed Internet access to meet Ugandans' diversified needs.
MTN says the WakaNet service caters to the “needs of businesses, remote workers, and entertainment enthusiasts”.
Somdev Sen, chief marketing officer at MTN Uganda, says: “Our latest WakaNet packages reaffirm our commitment to bridging the digital divide and enabling progress in key sectors such as business, medicine, agriculture, and education.”
The WakaNet packages include the mobile WakaNet Router offer, which costs $8 (UGX 30,000) and includes 30 days of Internet access at 10 Mbps, and includes a free router.
There’s also the WakaNet Fibre deal, which starts at $34 (UGX130,000) for 30 days, and provides fibre connectivity, at speeds of 10Mbps.
The third tier is the Prestige Fibre package, which, for $103 (UGX395,000, offers speeds of 60Mbps, for 30 days.
MTN Uganda, led by CEO Sylvia Mulinge, has shown increasing growth and larger contributions to MTN Group’s markets portfolio.
