Obsidian examines CrowdStrike theory in DevSecOps
Obsidian Systems, an established supplier of open-source solutions, today hosted a discussion on the strategies companies can examine when it comes to integrating CrowdStrike into DevSecOps. The topic of the event was ‘CrowdStrike Theory in DevSecOps: Providing Tangible Solutions for Future-Proofing Businesses.’ Today’s event has taken on fresh relevance in light of the recent global CrowdStrike outage.
Last week Friday (July 19), a faulty update to CrowdStrike's Falcon Sensor software for Windows systems led to widespread failures, causing many systems to enter a continuous reboot cycle. The incident affected millions of devices globally and caused significant disruptions across various sectors. These included everyone from airlines and healthcare providers to multinational organisations. More than 5,000 flights were cancelled, and numerous businesses experienced downtime.
During the event, Obsidian Systems emphasised the importance of integrating advanced cybersecurity measures into development and operations processes to prevent such incidents.
"The recent CrowdStrike outage underscores the need for extensive disaster recovery plans and more sophisticated DevSecOps practices," said Muggie van Staden, MD of Obsidian Systems. "Our solutions are designed to help businesses avoid such failures by enhancing their cybersecurity posture and ensuring operational resilience."
The conference provided a deep dive into the practical application of CrowdStrike theory within DevSecOps frameworks, focusing on strategies to build resilience and future-proof businesses against similar incidents.
“Our goal was to shed light on the unseen challenges in cybersecurity and provide actionable solutions. The positive feedback underscores the importance of these discussions in today's digital landscape."
Obsidian also showcased the importance of a mature DevSecOps process that can prevent potential outages like the recent CrowdStrike incident, ensuring businesses remain secure. This initiative is part of Obsidian's ongoing commitment to developing business-ready solutions for companies across various industry sectors.
