Value of software innovation to a digital economy
Johannesburg, South Africa will serve as the host venue of the 2nd Africa and Middle East Conference on Software Engineering (AMECSE) Conference running from 31 August to 01 September 2015.
This is an academic conference that will run at the Parktonian Hotel in Braamfontein alongside the 3rd Africa ICT Alliance (AfICTA Summit), with the framework of the Fak'ugesi Digital Africa Festival.
Organisers describe the Festival as one "aimed at activating a dynamic phase of digital innovation in Johannesburg through the engagement of art and technology in an African context."
The inaugural Fak'ugesi was hosted by Wits University and took place in Braamfontein in September 2014. The event features stand-alone conferences, exhibitions, short-courses and workshops focused on Africa and the emergence of a digital culture.
The theme for AMECSE 2015 is Software Innovation for Boosting the Digital Economy, and researchers and practitioners are given an opportunity to discuss the latest trends, recent innovations, experiences and concerns within the field of software engineering.
It will also feature in-depth discussion about best practices and technology, and how these can be leveraged for sustainable results and momentum for research.
Organisers have already extended an invitation to the market to contribute and share work in one or more of the Conference tracks including, Industrial Papers/Technical Research; Formal Demonstrations; Posters and Tutorials.
Adrian Schofield from the Johannesburg Centre for Software Engineering (JCSE), South Africa is the General Chair for the Conference.
Together with the organising committee, Schofield has listed a number of topics of interest to be covered at the event, including software innovation policies, software economics, web entrepreneurship, big data and open linked data, software for the internet of things, cloud computing, mobile/ubiquitous/ pervasive software and model-driven engineering, amongst others.
