Acer expands presence into SADC with Syntech Distribution
Acer Africa, a PC technology company, is expanding its reach through a ‘strategic agreement’ with Syntech Distribution, focusing on Google Chromebooks.
Acer says it collaborates with its educational partners, particularly in the deployment of Google for Education solutions.
While the new partnership will focus on the sale of Google devices, Acer has confirmed that Syntech will carry the entire line of Acer commercial products, according to the PC firm.
Acer Africa's expansion on the continent follows the recent revelation that it will soon begin manufacturing monitors in South Africa.
The Taiwan-based hardware giant announced the manufacturing project in June, adding that the move will provide inexpensive access to technology, which is vital for economic growth and social development.
Glenn Du Toit, country manager of Acer Africa, commented on SADC's broadened relationship with Syntech, saying: "Their strong distribution network and market expertise make them an ideal partner for us.
"We believe that this collaboration will enable us to be more customer-centric, allowing us a platform to reach more customers and provide them with our innovative edge computing devices be they Chrome OS or Microsoft."
According to Ryan Martyn, Syntech's co-founder and sales and marketing director, the partnership will use technology to improve people's lives in Africa.
