Inq. looks to leverage cloud to bolster Botswana ambitions
Pan-African cloud-based digital service provider inq., a subsidiary of Convergence Partners, has entered the Botswana market.
Announcing its intentions via inq. Digital Botswana, the company said it wants to leverage its edge cloud capabilities and other digital solutions to add value to the country’s infrastructure investments.
Speaking at the launch of inq. Digital Botswana, Minister of Transport and Communication, Thulagano Segokgo said through partnerships with technology companies like inq., Botswana will build platforms that will increase its competitive advantage and ability to attract foreign investors.
“We have worked hard to ensure that we have a solid governance structure that levels the playing field for investors. It is not surprising that today we are launching yet another successful foreign direct investment (FDI). There is no doubt that such partnerships are true enablers of sustainable development across all sectors of our economy,” said Segokgo.
He added that Botswana will continue to prioritise and promote investment in innovation and compete in global markets. “We have always underscored the need for the country to pursue its economic development in a sustainable manner with a significant focus on meeting the current generation’s needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”
The Minister said inq. Digital Botswana will offer a range of solutions from, data and video analytics, software defined networking, IoT, business process automation and software development. “With access to solutions like these, the country’s digital transformation agenda is accelerated to the next level, it's a leapfrog in the creation of a marketplace for businesses and communities to trade digitally and accelerateour drive economic growth."
inq. Digital Botswana Managing Director, Mokgethi Nyatseng said the company has evolved from exploring new opportunities in digital ecosystems beyond connectivity and communication, highlighting that itssuite of products included inq. Intelligent Docs, Network Fabric, Edge AI and IoT, Edge uCPE, Elastic Edge, SDN for Cloud Edge, Edge Baremetal and Secure Access Service Edge.
The company’s operations are pinned to the national vision Smart Botswana, an ambitious agenda to thrust the country’s into the mainstay of digital edge.
