Africa CDC launches digital medical marketplace
The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has unveiled a new health platform that caters for the differing technology needs of AU member states, such as access and infrastrcutrue levels and cost.
The digital exchange platform, named ‘The Africa HealthTech Marketplace’ was launched last month at the Africa Health-Tech Summit in Kigali, Rwanda
“The Africa HealthTech Marketplace is a game-changer for healthcare in Africa,” said Jean Kaseya, Africa CDC director-general.
“By offering a platform that showcases local, scalable solutions, we are empowering healthcare providers across the continent to access the tools they need to improve health outcomes,” Kaseya said.
The platform provides an opportunity for government technologists, policymakers, and health professionals to navigate, evaluate and implement solutions suited to their respective communities.
Jean Philbert Nsengimana, chief digital advisor at Africa CDC, said the platform can drive collaboration across the African health tech sector.
“It fills a critical gap for the 600 million- plus people across Africa who lack access to basic medical care,” Nsengimana said.
