Ghana pledges to enhance CCTV, drone deployment
IF retained in office, the Ghana's current administration has pledged to deploy an additional 50 000 surveillance cameras to boost security and expand the usage of drones to enhance health care delivery.
Deputy President Mahamudu Bawumia's campaign address on the eve of special voting, which begins today.
Bawumia is the presidential candidate for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) as current head of state, Nana Akufo-Addo, has served two terms.
NPP assumed power in 2016 and Bawumia disclosed that the administration had during the two terms deployed more than 11 000 closed-circuit television cameras across the country as part of developing state-of-the-art surveillance systems to enhance security.
The ruling party candidate outlined further plans to boost security if the NPP is retained.
“We are looking forward to constructing forward operating bases to enhance border security, further increase our (security forces) personnel by 20 000 and expand surveillance with 50 000 additional cameras,” he said.
Bawumia believes drone technology is key to expanding health care delivery.
“We aim to expand the Zipline drone service to bring essential medical supplies to every corner of Ghana,” he campaigned.
