NEC Africa, a pan-African ICT integrator, has teamed with IgKnight as its new fulfilment partner in Mauritius.

The company announced the partnership today, stating it is part of a larger strategy to expand the NEC portfolio of solutions into Africa, which includes communications, enterprise and retail solutions, enterprise technology solutions, infrastructure and energy solutions, and safety and security solutions.

The Mauritius partnership begins with enterprise IT solutions.

Darsanand Balgobin, Mauritius' minister of information technology, communication, and innovation, was the event's guest of honour.

NEC Africa believes Mauritius, regarded as a financial hub, is a promising market for business, with Statista estimating a turnover of US$49.6 million in Mauritius' computing market by 2024.

According to Statista, "Mauritius is experiencing a surge in demand for cloud computing services, as businesses seek to enhance their digital infrastructure and improve operational efficiency."

This development has been a draw for the company, according to John Dewar, general manager of Enterprise Technology Solutions at NEC Africa: "Bringing our key product partners on board and deploying human resources on the ground are critical elements in our expansion strategy. We've already hired two sales executives to help grow the NEC Africa business in Mauritius, and we're excited to bring our full suite of products to the island nation."

IgKnight, a Mauritius-based technology reseller, has been working with NEC Africa for about five years, making it an appropriate local partner for regional business operations, according to the company.

According to Shaan Kundamaal, the chief executive officer of IgKnight, NEC Africa is an ideal partner as it has capabilities and specialist tools to help identify and mitigate potential enterprise risk.

NEC Africa, which is spearheading the development into Mauritius, says its enterprise technology solutions business arm provides IT infrastructure solutions targeted to the data-driven economy. 

It goes on to say that with a focus on high-end compute technologies, storage, switching, and converged systems, NEC Africa assures that trained experts provide support at all stages.

Dewar highlighted the significance of this launch, stating, "In an era marked by explosive data growth, businesses are grappling with the challenge of harnessing and leveraging technology resources for competitive advantage.

"We view the Mauritian market as both expansive and dynamic, with an unceasing demand for technology support and upgrades. While competition intensifies, we are confident that our seasoned team, coupled with our comprehensive offerings, will cater to the evolving needs of the market."
