Telecommunications services provider Telkom has announced that it will roll out the second phase of SmartBroadband uncapped high speed wireless packages to over 200 additional areas in South Africa's Gauteng province.

In a release the company stated that the online sale will take place on 7 September and packages will be available on a 24-month contract at prices starting at R599.

Telkom SA initiated the first phase of the SmartBroadband rollout in June and, according to the company, drew a response from 400 people in 29 locations.

Attila Vitai, managing director of Telkom Mobile and Consumer, confirmed the company's intention to roll the offering out nationally. "After the success of the first phase, we are confident that this one-of-a-kind offering in South Africa will continue to provide high speed broadband at unprecedented value."

The company is offering unlimited internet access, with antenna and free installation.

"The second phase of the online sale will be focused on selected base stations in Gauteng from 7 September to 30 November and will be rolled out to additional locations in the Western Cape and Durban in the following months. Eligible locations in Western Cape and Durban will be announced towards the end of the year," the company added in its release.

According to Telkom the introductory offer will start at R599 for the first 50 customers, R699 for the second 50 and R799 for the final 50 available packages at each base station.

The offering includes uncapped data for all traffic types and normal fair usage policies will be applied, the company added.
