Innovation takes on cloud form in FinTech space

Dependence on the cloud as a mechanism for enhanced services delivery in a digitally transformed business landscape was one of the main trends discussed at CeBIT 2017 in Hannover, Germany, this week.

Service providers acknowledged that high costs, long TTM for new services and poor user experience remain challenges within the market, but there is renewed focus on cloud architecture evolution and the ability to build on existing solutions to add more services.

And it is generally accepted that security is becoming less of a barrier to adoption, according to executives representing the service providers and their partners.

The migration of financial services platform into the cloud was highlighted as a noteworthy ICT industry development.

An existing partnership between global IT services firm Infosys and multinational ICT firm Huawei Technologies was underlined at the event, with specific reference to the Finacle financial services platform on Huawei Fusioncloud infrastructure.

The two companies first committed to a partnership agreement in 2014, with the first pilot of Infosys Finacle core banking solution on Huawei infrastructure run in 2015.

According to Infosys, results showed that 627 transactions per second were processed at peak volume.

The partners plan to take the solution to the financial services market, with the value proposition pitched to banks being support for flexible evolution of banks, assured availability and reliability, seamless scalability, greater efficiency, and versatility.

"The objective is personalised customer service and frictionless customer experience, as well as reduced dependence on IT organisation and improved user satisfaction," company executives exclaimed.

Going forward there is already work being done between the partners to establish Finacle on Huawei's Fusioncloud with Kunkun architecture, to offer what the companies describe as the world's first 32-socket x86 mission critical server, with Huawei's RAS 2.0 technologies.

The offering will incorporate the NC interconnect chipset, and is an open system to promote ecosystem collaboration, system compatibility, and adaptability.

"The joint innovation will enable digital transformation and cover aspects such as IT/DC development and migration, BSS/BES, IT outsourcing, IPTV and big data," the companies added.
