New online platform for Ghanaian job seekers

Microsoft's 4Afrika initiative, in partnership with the International Institute for Communication and Development (IICD), has unveiled an online employment service to provide tools and resources to job seekers in Ghana.

The employment platform, dubbed "TizaaWorks", aims to be a national one-stop online hub for employability and entrepreneurship, says the statement.

According to Microsoft the platform aims to match the right skills to appropriate jobs, and equip youth with the necessary training, tools and knowledge required to succeed in their desired job.

Stats from the World Bank reveal that 65% of Ghana's youth are unemployed.

"Technology can empower young people to make a vital contribution to their community and our world," said Brad Smith, general counsel and executive vice president, legal and corporate affairs, Microsoft.

"We hope that this platform serves as a bridge, connecting Ghana's young people to the tools, resources and people they need to find the fulfilling careers they deserve," said Smith.

Although Ghana has several employment resources for its youth, many do not know where to find them; however, TizaaWorks would expose the youth to the various learning and training organisations that can help them realise their career aspirations, reads the statement.

The Microsoft 4Afrika initiative was launched in 2013 to help Africa improve its global competitiveness and facilitate Microsoft's active engagement in Africa's economic development.
