Airtel Zambia launches new fibre connectivity solution for businesses
Airtel Zambia’s B2B silo Airtel Business has launched a new enhanced fibre connectivity solution, Gigabit Passive Optical Networks (GPON), to connect more businesses in the country.
Airtel Zambia said it already has over 4,000 km of fibre spread across the country, and with the new solution in place, backed by a US$1-million investment, additional SMBs (initially in Lusaka, Ndola and Kitwe) will be connected.
Thereafter, the company has committed to further investment to roll out the solution in other regions.
The company added that the fibre network infrastructure will benefit businesses by offering guaranteed bandwidth, scalable plans, high performance, reliability and speed.
Additionally, businesses linked to its network will have access to efficient internet services, and be able to tap into the company’s scalable bandwidth will allow businesses to customise their bundle plans according to their needs and budget.
With fibre dedicated lines between their local area networks (LAN) and the internet, the company said businesses will have access to connection speeds of up to 10Gbps.
The company said, “The need for seamless internet services is beyond a luxury, it is basic need now. Therefore, we have gone ahead of the market and make it easier and painless to get connected on a resilient fibre network.”
