Powertel expands broadband to Zim's oldest town
Powertel Communication, Zimbabwe's broadband company says it will extend its data network to the country's oldest city of Masvingo before the end of the month as it continues with its expansion plans.
In an interview, Powertel’s marketing and sales manager, Willard Nyagwande, said his company was almost ready to offer a complete data and voice solution to the market.
Nyagwande said the expansion to Masvingo was necessary saying the move would help expand their services to all corners of the country, including the most remote areas.
"We are happy to tell the community of Masvingo that the wait for the fastest mobile internet in Zimbabwe at $50 unlimited downloads a month is over. At the end of November 2012 or earlier Masvingo residents will be able to browse the internet.
"Powertel has completed its business transformation exercise to become more consumer-faced and fully launch mass market products and service countrywide," he said.
Nyagwande said the company embarked on a two pronged strategy to fully service both the corporate and consumer facing products like data and voice.
