Business Connexion investing in Africa

On 4 March, the Business Connexion Group initiated a reorganisation process to advance its positioning as a global player.

In line with this, and a key focus on Africa, the Group has acquired two companies on the continent: A 100% holding in Panabiz Nigeria, and a 100% holding in Ultimate Solutions Botswana, both effective 1 March 2014.

Panabiz Nigeria is a Managed Print Services (MPS) company operating in West Africa and is a well-established distributor of Canon in the region. Previously part of Singapore-headquartered Tolaram Group, Panabiz employs 8,000 people globally and has existing Managed Print Service and Annual Maintenance Service contracts. The two to three year inherited contracts have laid a solid foundation of annuity revenue, gearing it for significant growth in the market.

Ultimate Solutions is Botswana's market leader in Point of Sale solutions with three branches in Gaborone, Maun and Francistown and a retail customer base of over 800 stores in the country. With 20 years' experience and an excellent track-record, Ultimate Solutions provides Business Connexion's retail focused business units' access to this market.

Where required, Business Connexion will provide the Botswana retail customer base a migration path to newer technologies available within the Business Connexion stable or via partnerships that Business Connexion holds. Ultimate Solutions, is also a strong distributer of brands such as HP, Lenovo and Mecer and has the ability to distribute and manage the warrantee process within the Botswana environment.

The Panabiz team of 60 staff members will join Business Connexion Nigeria's 140-member team based in Lagos and Ultimate Solution's 44 staff members will also be joining the Business Connexion Group.

"We're excited about our increasing African footprint and the talent joining Business Connexion. Our African footprint allows us to better service our client bases who too are expanding into Africa. Our recent acquisitions allow us to provide solutions and services that are aligned to customer needs." said Benjamin Mophatlane, Business Connexion chief executive officer.
